Urgent Call for Support:
Hassala
A Lifeline for Gaza's artists

Hassala is an urgent relief project initiated by the artistic coalition, Artists Together. Amid the daily genocide in Gaza, Hassala aims to sustain the livelihoods of Palestinian Artists who continue to create and inspire despite unimaginable hardships. This initiative provides critical support for the artists, ensuring that their voices and stories are not lost amid the destruction.

Who we are

Artists Together is a diverse coalition of artists and cultural workers from Gaza, historic Palestine, and its diaspora, joined by creators from the Arab world and friends of Palestine. United by a shared commitment to cultural resilience, this coalition is driven by the belief that art and culture are not only essential expressions of humanity but also powerful testimonies to lived experience and collective memory. Through Hassala, Artists Together works to preserve and uplift the dignity, creativity, and resilience of Gaza's artistic community.

Our mission

In response to the ongoing brutality and widespread destruction, Hassala provides a vital lifeline for artists in Gaza. Our mission is to ensure that Palestinian artists in Gaza can continue to share their stories, safeguard their heritage, and stand against injustice.

How we work

Over the last year, Artists Together has identified and compiled a comprehensive database of more than 300 artists currently living in Gaza. This diverse group includes visual artists, writers, filmmakers, and practitioners across a wide range of disciplines. Hassala is committed to supporting these artists through two streams including:

1.    Monthly financial assistance to help artists in Gaza cover essential living expenses. Financial disbursements and oversight will be done through the independent UK-registered A. M. Qattan Foundation (AMQF) in accordance with the coalition’s selection process. For those residing in the United Kingdom, donations are tax-deductible. Funds received through the designated link will be deposited into Al-Qattan's account and accumulated until they reach $75,000, triggering the first payment. If over $100,000 is collected within a short period, the excess funds will be held and distributed in the next round to ensure $300 payments per artist and so on.

2.    Support for the artists professional development to maintain and grow their practice despite the ongoing crisis. This includes access to resources, mentorship, training, and platforms that enable them to continue creating, sharing their work, and evolving artistically—despite the immense challenges they face on a daily basis.

Following the first disbursement, Hassala will be evaluated jointly by the Artists Together and AMQF to assess its progress and identify areas for improvement in the campaign.
